Parent Information:

What is M-STEP?

  • Michigan Student Test of Educational Progress (M-STEP) is the new state assessment that replaced MEAP in the spring of 2015.

  • M-STEP is aligned to Michigan’s challenging learning standards and administered each spring to students during a three week window per grade level.

  • M-STEP has fewer multiple choice questions than the previous MEAP assessment and more questions that require problem solving and critical thinking skills.

  • M-STEP is one component of the Michigan Merit Exam (MME) for 11th graders.

How do I view my child's M-STEP results?

The Michigan Department of Education is providing school districts with a printed Parent Report of each student’s individual 2014-2015 M-STEP results. This report will be sent home along with your student’s report card at the end of the first semester. To provide quicker access to your child’s results, your child’s individual results have been uploaded to the PowerSchool Parent Portal. The results are for students who were enrolled in grades three through eighth and eleventh last year. Below are the instructions on how to access your child’s results. At this time, results are are only accessible on the PowerSchool Parent Portal website. You will not be able to view results on the PowerSchool Mobile App.
