Come to “The Dining Room” At HHS

Olivia LaCommare & Lucas Somers2/25/2021 - This spring, the Howell High School Performing Arts Department invites guests to visit “The Dining Room” March 18-21, 2021. “The Dining Room,” which is set in the dining room of a well-to-do household, is a series of interrelated scenes, which, when put together, create a portrait of the families. The production will be presented at 7 p.m. on March 18-20 and at 2 p.m. on March 21. There will also be a live-streamed performance on Saturday, March 20 at 1 p.m. Seating is limited to 150 patrons per show, with assigned seats. Tickets may be purchased online at

Throughout the play, the actors will portray a wide variety of characters. The actors include,
Jocelyn Alexandres, Chet Brayton, Rohan Cheerla, Cruz Coloma, Lilly Gerrits, Carson Harris, Nelson Hull, Alexandra Johnson, Emily Kasprzak, Olivia LaCommare, Karen Lessnau-Scott, Daniel Maura, Justin Perdue, Riley Perry, Micah Schrock, Gracie Sheets, Lucas Somers, Brooke Studebaker, Kaityln Ward, Laine Wyatt.

“We are so excited to bring “The Dining Room” to the stage of the Rod Bushey Performing Arts Center. This play is set in the dining room and shares the humorous stories of the families who gather in that room for their daily meals,” said Amanda Malo, Howell High School drama teacher and the play’s director. “We are producing this play following strict COVID-19 safety and mitigation guidelines to ensure the safety of the cast, crew, and audience.”

“The Dining Room” is being produced following strict COVID-19 safety guidelines. During both rehearsals and performances, all actors and production staff will wear masks. The play features 18 short scenes, all of which under five minutes long, limiting the time that actors are near each other. Additionally, the play features one set that does not move, and no more than six actors will be on stage at any given time, with the expectation of the curtain call. Lastly, as mentioned above, tickets to the production will be limited to 120 per show, with assigned seats and masks required for patrons.
