MacGregor's Message: 11/20/2015

Dear parents,

I am thankful for a number of things this Thanksgiving season. I am incredibly thankful for the opportunity to lead Howell Public Schools. We have a great school community full of outstanding and dedicated teachers, administrators, and staff, and supportive parents. I am also thankful for the support that our community continues to show our district. A strong community relies on a strong school district. Likewise, a strong school district relies on a supportive community.  In working together, we will continue to ensure that Howell Public Schools provides every student the opportunity to succeed.

Below I’ve highlighted some of the great things that have happened around Howell Public Schools in recent weeks. I’ve also provided some information about our winter weather school closing procedures. I would like to ask that each of you takes a few moments to review our these procedures.  The decision to close school is often a difficult one, however, that decision is always made with one question in mind, “can our students safely make it to school today?” Student safety is always our top priority.

I would like to wish each of you and your families an enjoyable and relaxing Thanksgiving. Please remember that there is no school Wednesday, November 25 through Friday, November 27.

Winter Weather School Closings

If the weather predictions are correct, we are going to have our first real taste of winter this weekend. Please take a few moments to review our winter weather school closing procedures at http://goo.gl/22hhFn.

Food Service Thanksgiving Feast

On Thursday, November 19, our Food Service Department served up a wonderful Thanksgiving Feast. Our Food Service Department does an outstanding job of providing our students fresh, healthy and tasty meals each day. In fact, they have fresh food delivered two times a week. HHS Veterans Day Program

On Wednesday, November 11 I had the honor of attending the Howell High School Veterans Day Program. It was an amazing event filled with past and current servicemen and women, students, and staff. I know that this event is a major undertaking and would like to extend kudos to all those who were involved in making it happen. If you have a second, please consider watching this short video highlighting the assembly at https://goo.gl/vLuL1r.
