Parker Middle School Eighth Grade Students Learn About High School From Howell High School Link Crew Members
During a recent assembly, Parker Middle School eighth grade students
learned the ins and outs of high school from members of Howell High
School’s Link Crew. The high school Link Crew members shared personal
experiences from their time at Howell High School and gave tips on how
to be successful in high school. They also talked about the vast course
offering and opportunities offered at the high school as well as the
extra-curricular programs that students can become involved in.
Following the presentation, the Link Crew members answered any questions
the eighth graders had about high school.
The goal of the
assembly was to introduce the eighth grade students to high school and
help ease any worries or concerns that the students may have as they
prepare to enter ninth grade.
About Link Crew
Crew is a high school transition program that increases freshman
success. Members of the junior and senior classes are trained to be
yearlong Link Leaders who act as positive role models, motivators,
mentors and teachers helping guide the freshmen to discover what it
takes to be successful during the transition to high school. As freshmen
success increases, the benefits to the school culture and climate
become apparent; Link Crew schools report having greater connection,
increased extracurricular participation, fewer discipline issues and
greater pride and spirit.
