2/2/17 - Students at Northwest Elementary recently created and sent Valentine’s Day cards to a U.S. Navy Ship. Northwest student council helped the school’s younger students color different Valentine’s and they helped the older students write thank you notes. The students were excited to create the cards and thank the sailors for their service to our country. The Northwest student council planned the project, purchased the supplies to make the cards and helped students create their cards.

“Members of our armed forces sacrifice so much as they work to protect our freedoms,” said Tara Cote, Northwest Elementary School teacher. “Creating and sending these cards was a way for our students to say thank you to the sailors for those sacrifices.”

The cards were sent to the USS Carl Vinson which left for deployment on Jan. 5 from San Diego.
