Kindergarten Registration

Howell Public Schools offers a developmental kindergarten program called Begindergaren, and a traditional kindergarten program. To help your family decide which program is right for your child, please watch the video below.

To help maintain a safe environment for our families and staff, the Registration Office is currently operating on an appointment basis. To make an appointment, please call 517.548.6232.

When visiting the Registration Office, we ask that all visitors wear a mask or face covering if they are medically able to.

For families who need to submit paperwork (child's certified birth certificate, immunization records, vision screening results, and proof of residency) to complete the registration process, we have received approval to collect these items electronically. You can submit these by emailing a scanned copy of the paperwork to Helen@HowellSchools.com.

Kindergarten and Begindergarten Registration
Kindergarten and Begindergarten (young fives) Registration for the 2020-2021 school year has been postponed. Please complete the online registration forms. A date for families to submit the required paperwork will be scheduled for a later date.

Your Child's School
Kindergarten and Begindergarten registration will be held at each elementary school. Students should be registered at their attendance area (home) school. If you are unsure which school your child will attend, please visit our Find Your School page.

At Kindergarten and Begindergarten Registration
During the registration event, parents and their child(ren) will be able to meet the school’s principal, take a tour of the school, see the playground and visit a kindergarten classroom. Additionally, the Howell Public Schools Transportation Department will have a school bus at each elementary for children to explore. Students who are registered on March 17, will receive a stuffed animal from their principal.

To Register Your Child(ren) Students must be five years old by September 1, 2020. According to Michigan Law, if a student will not be five years old by September 1, 2020, but will be five years old by December 1, 2020, they may be enrolled in Kindergarten if their parent or legal guardian notifies the school district in writing that he or she intends to enroll their child in kindergarten. A waiver form is included in the registration forms.
