Dear Families,
The start of another school year is upon us, and we are excited to welcome back our students and staff in a couple of weeks. I always look forward to the start of a new school year. I love seeing our buildings come to life as they buzz with excitement as teachers prepare their classrooms and students and families begin returning to our schools.
Our middle and high school offices reopened this week, and our elementary school offices will reopen on Monday, August 13. Orientation for our middle and high school students will be held next week. The full orientation schedule can be found on our Back to School webpage. Elementary class lists will be posted on Friday, August 17 inside each elementary school.
The Back to School edition of Highlander Nation will be arriving in homes shortly. A digital edition of the publication can be found here. We have also posted our preliminary bus routes, which can be found on the Transportation Department website.
The Howell Highlanders football team will open the 2018 season at the Big House in Ann Arbor when they host Dearborn Fordson at 4:30 p.m. on Saturday, August 25. This will be a tremendous experience for our football program, and we invite the entire community to share in the excitement of the Battle at the Big House! Highlander fans may purchase a game ticket and commemorative t-shirt in the Howell athletic office for just $20. A family pack of four tickets and four t-shirts is available for $70. Tickets and t-shirts are also available online at www.howellfootball.com. Single game tickets are also available in the athletic office for $10.00.
Again this year, we would like to invite you to submit a photo of your child on the first day of school. These will be posted on the district’s Facebook page as part of our Back to School album. To submit a photo, please visit our Facebook page and send us a message with the photo. We have posted printable signs that can be used in your child's photo on the Back to School webpage.
I hope you enjoy these last few weeks of summer, and I look forward to welcoming our students and families back on Monday, August 27.
