MacGregor's Message 1/22/21

Dear Families,

Planning is well underway for the bond projects that will be completed this summer. Many of these projects are less visible than the work that was completed last summer, however, they are equally important. Much of this year’s work will include roofing, concrete and asphalt replacement, and mechanical upgrades such as heating and cooling systems. As we prepare for these projects, I realized that many families have not been in our buildings to see the work that has already been completed. To showcase this, we have put together a video that highlights the work completed so far. You can view the video at http://bit.ly/3iBSCZv.

The district is working to reopen the Highlander Aquatics and Fitness Center (formerly the Howell Area Aquatics Center). Before the center reopens, we will be completing several maintenance projects to the spa and pool. By completing these projects while the center is still closed, we will be able to limit downtime when the center reopens. While the maintenance projects are being completed, we will be hiring lifeguards, instructors, and creating class schedules. You can follow the progress of the reopening on our website at HowellSchools.com/aquatics.

As the COVID-19 pandemic continues, it is easy to become complacent with health and safety protocols. We all must continue to take the necessary precautions to limit the spread of COVID-19 and its impact on our schools. First and foremost is staying home when showing any symptoms of COVID-19 and when COVID-19 test results are pending, regardless of the reason a test was administered. Additionally, following best public health practices such as wearing a mask in public, frequent hand washing, and limiting social gatherings are important tools in slowing the spread of COVID-19.
